Late Tuesday night, my father felt sick and asked to be taken to the hospital. He left the house walking on his feet. He is still at the hospital but in a medically induced coma so he won't remove the machines around and on him. Because simply he can not breath at all.
The first day, the machine was breathing for him -if we can say so- 100% and yesterday they reduced it to 80 %.
And now his face and legs and hands are all swollen. They say it's his kidney. They feed him through a tube connected to his nose.
Let's pray that what they say is true , that in about 2 -3 days they will remove the machines and he will be awake.
What happened to him ? let me simply say And the reason is " Smoking" . The doctors are saying that his lungs are damaged because of smoking and they fail, that's why he couldn't breath.
This man has survived three heart attacks and one in the brain BUT nothing will kill him like smoking !!!
I am so mad at him and at everyone who killed themselves this way, how stupid.
I know that we all do stupid things that kills us slowly but smoking is a quick death, damn it.
The problem is that other than me , my elder sister and mother, we live in a smoking house.
Five of us are smokers. My father, my three brothers and my sister who lives with us. And of course no one knows about my sister, except me and my father who used to help her with cigarette !!! because in our society a smoker woman is labeled as corrupted and bad one.
It's ok for a man to be a smoker and everyone will pray for him to quit this bad habit but no one will dare talking about smoker women.
Yesterday when we left my father's room , i talked to my sister and told her firmly that this is her future and if my father has someone on his bedside , she won't and if that didn't kill her then cancer will. She confirmed to me that she wanted to quit and that she doesn't want to have the same path my father have ....but something tells me she is bluffing and that nothing will happen!!
The irony is that my father fell the same day that was supposed to be an anti-smoking day, may 31st.
Please pray for his recovery and for the recovery of all those stupid enough to kill themselves smoking. I am so mad at them :(
It's wrong if someone kill your kids, but it's ok if YOU kill them !!
Ugh! Smoking inside is so bothersome. I don't even like it at all, but at least don't smoke around others if you MUST do it. :(

BalasHapusI can totally relate, my father smokes and this causes me a constant feeling of anger toward him. But I think you should make it clear that you don't want smoking inside the house, threaten to move out if necessary.

BalasHapusthe stupid ones to me are the young generation who have been told since their childhood that smoking is deadly not the elder ones who were actually taught that smoking was "cool" until recently when things changed and the coolness left
and i hope your papa will now at least reduce the habit if he cannot quit it

BalasHapusTo live in a society where it's a big thing for women to smoke, is protective in an indirect way. But it's changing... and women are finding it "cool" -- It's a cheap action, that's all. Well no! it's not that's all, it's cheap but it costs them their lives.. that's all.

My dad smokes too, I find it very strange and rather irritating that science has proven a correlation between smoking and rising death rates from cancer etc. but people seem to move on taking the habit to a more careless level, its truly addictive but not to those with perseverance.

It angers me so much when people smoke, especially around other people.
BalasHapusAlthough my dad smoked, at least he only did it in his own room (his office) or outside. Even then, I still think I've had more second-hand smoke than what's healthy.

BalasHapusit drives me nuts seeing someone smoking and I live with quiet a few of them. The problem here is that people can smoke anywhere, you are so lucky to be in a country where strict rules are set for smoking in public places.
